“Noah’s Ark” seems to be gaining popularity as a party idea as well as baby showers. Ideas for favors are abundant. So much so, that three minutes searching will give you at least 100 pictures of anything from cakes to décor, as well as complete nursery themes. I have to agree it is especially cute for twins with the whole two by two theme even if it is a tad cliché.
1 So for the first idea, let’s start with invitations: while searching, I found birthdaydirect.com had by far the cutest little invitations for 3.79 USD per pack of 8. If you have Microsoft Office with Publisher, you can download free templates to print your own. I still personally liked the invitations from birthdaydirect.com even with the fill-in-the blank inside because the cover was just so darn cute.
2. On the topic of cards, let’s not forget the thank you cards. When I viewed the website, they were sold out of the thank you cards that matched the aforementioned invitations. So alternative ideas are print your own with templates available on avery.com, or you can buy them from a party store or even your local dollar store. Mine had some nice ones.
3. I’m only going to describe my favorites when discussing cakes because there were so many. If these ideas aren’t your thing, finding other ideas will be easy as pie. So I found this idea on pintrest.com. It was a five layer cake with the bottom 2 layers iced with blue buttercream frosting to look like ocean waves. Atop this sat the top three layers, which were sculpted to look like the ark. Then it had little plastic animals that you can find at Wal-Mart or Target for about 1 USD. Then it was surrounded on the platter with 8 blue cupcakes iced similarly to the ocean theme on the cake. And instead of the plastic animals, it had little rings with animal heads that you can get from Oriental Trading Company.
The next cake was a 3 layer cake. The maker had sculpted the cake to look like the Ark, then covered it in colored fondant. They then used cake mold to make twin lions to stand at the side of the Ark and iced them with buttercream.
4. For games, I found several sources for several different printable games involving Noah’s Ark. Also, you can find books with tear out pages at most Bible book stores. Babyshower-simplicity.com has printable Noah’s Ark BINGO that actually had a pretty page design. I don’t know why but that just stuck out to me.
5. Now for the favors! Candlesandfavors.com has Noah’s Ark candles (small ones like tea lights), Etsy had magnets for the refrigerator, animal crackers in little plastic bags with printable bag toppers (you can print these toppers in MS Publisher or Open Office), and my personal favorite despite being a seasonal item: Peep-kabobs! You guessed it, skewer the Peeps on kabobs in pairs.
Hopefully this inspires you for the Noah’s Ark Baby Shower that you are planning.
